Progress on July 4th - The Drive-In

About 50 miles from here is one of 400 some surviving Drive-In movie theaters.  There was not a double feature but there are 2 screens where you could choose. We watched Brave. It was SO CUTE! Not what I thought it was going to be.  This was a new experience for all of us as I have not been to a drive-in since I was like 5...we watched Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom and I screamed my head off when the giant ball went rolling after Dr. Jones.  It was time to go home.

The kids did good considering the heat.  We took the cushions of the couch and used them in the back of the van where we had removed the last row of seats. It worked well.

The sad part of this dying past time is this theater in particular needs to upgrade to a digital system before the end of 2012 or it too will be extinct.  Bummer because this is good, clean, family fun. You can take a grill and BBQ, you can bring in pizza and any other food item you choose. They do not prohibit you from bringing the food you already paid for.

Many of you do not live near me or care about this story but if I've by chance inspired there is a site where you can donate to save this theater.  They raise the funds, they purchase the digital equipment and voila!! Another success story. View this link to donate.  Thanks!  Happy 4th weekend everybody!!

Okay I said we watched Brave and we did but there is another Monster's Inc coming out sometime in 2012...this was the preview, I promise!  :-)
